The first model from the TND stable for turbine powered and one of the very few turbine models on the current market that is truly a ‘scratch build’.
The Vampire and its variants, span three decades of service life with the RAF and with many other air forces throughout the world. It not only distinguished itself as a intercept fighter on front line patrol but also as a forgiving jet trainer which made it one of the most popular training aircraft in the early jet era. With that sort of pedigree, you can be assured that this Vampire will make the perfect scale trainer and sport model for those wishing to enter turbine modelling.
This model was born on the back of a resurgence in traditional modeling and for modellers wishing to build a traditional model, suitable for a turbine, but haven’t the funds or the inclination to build one from the array of expensive ARTF kits in the market place. If you are on a fixed budget then this model is the one for you. You can start from just a set of plans and VAC set as all the details for a traditional build, are on the plans.
The plans are supplied on 3 large sheets of extended AO sizes paper and the VAC set includes a clear canopy and nose cone.
If you what to make the build a little easier, a CNC pack is available which include all the ribs and formers, the fuselage sides, the boom sides and fins. A very complete pack!
A wood pack is also available and contains all the additional stock wood (strip and sheet) required to complete the model.
Retracts and oleo legs are bespoke to this model but are available through Unitract International.
Although this is a traditional ‘plan’ and the builder is expected to have previous building experience, we have provided pdf downloads of the build article and a series of construction photos of the prototype build, which should help.
Please Note
Although we carry selective
stock, we generally print
